Market
Overview : |
| |
For two decades, the electronics industry has been
playing an important role in Thailand’s economy development.
The electrical and electronics sector has contributed
about one-third of Thailand's export revenue over
the past five years. In 2006, the export value was
worth 1.4 million million baht, increased by 18%
from 2005 |
 |
and the components in computer, HDD
and integrated circuit were the major products. In
2007,
it has been expected that this value will be increased
by 10 – 12%. And Thailand hopes to become the center
of the electronics manufacturing in Asia in three years.
Spark More Opportunities
As Thailand is one of the significant electronic production
bases in the world, the government plans to develop
integrated manufacturing from electronic parts through
value-added products and support this industry continually;
providing a lot of incentives and privileges for the
investors. Thailand is an interesting market to set
up production base particularly in the HDD industry.
There will be plenty of opportunities after the government
offering up to eight years of tax incentives to foreign
manufacturers. And, the increasing demand for Research & Development
and know-how will create more transfer of technologies
and opportunities for joint ventures.
